Loved every minute of this challenging shoot. It's the UK premiere of a dazzling play by Simon Stephens. This tale of international travel, compressed rehearsal calls, jet lag and disorientation is something that I know will resonate strongly with the one or two friends I have in the opera business. It's beautifully directed by Michael Longhurst. Carmen Disruption plays at the Almeida down Islington way.
It's back to the Almeida later this month as I shoot the rehearsals and production of Simon Stephens' new play, Carmen Disruption. Blurb is beneath and it sounds rather intriguing and there's a few familiar faces in the cast from recent Donmar and MGC shoots.
For those that asked, the Berlin shoot went very well and I fell in love with the city. Just waiting for final sign off on usage and I'll get the pictures up. Very pleased with set - and a real thrill to watch conductor Tugan Sokhiev at work. I was allowed to position myself in amongst the orchestra, and for the most part managed to avoid treading on the Strads.
